MASCOT - Medical Orderly/Military Doctor's Field Watch - Unisex - The Korean or "Forgotten War" 1950 - 1953

◄N.B. Photos of the watch are taken in natural light (daylight) with the exception of those taken in the workshop. I use a Leica macro lens so in enlarged photos you will see things that you would not normally see with the naked eye. Furthermore I do not use a photo enhancement software programme. You should note that I may not relist this watch on Catawiki if it does not sell. I will not lower the Reserve price if one has been set, so making a very large bid at the start may not result in my lowering the Reserve towards the end of the auction.► Auction type: No Reserve Manufacturer: Mascot Circa: 1950 - The Korean or "Forgotten" War Diameter excluding crown: 30.60mms Lug tip to lug tip: 38.50mms Thickness: 11.21mms Inside lugs: 16.50mms Case shape: Round Case condition: Very good - see HD photos Case metal: Chrome Case colour: Silver Dial condition: Very good - see HD photos Dial colour: Silver with outer silver gray ring Script on dial - Swiss Made: Mascot - Waterproof - Shockproof - Automatic Jewel count: 17 Adjustments: None Numerals: Arab Military Hands: Index All script on movement: 17 jewels - Swiss Made All script on case & case back: Waterprotected - Antimagnetic - Incabloc- Stainless Steel Back - Automatic - Swiss Made Movement type: Automatic ETA (Etarotor) calibre 1256. Google 'ETA 1256 ranfft' for more information on this ground breaking movement Movement condition: Excellent - cleaned and oiled for auction. Keeping time Strap: Fits wrist to 20.20cms. New old stock contemporary lather strap Watch running: Yes History & Notes: From my military watch collection. Mascot was a "jobbing" Swiss manufacturer who produced good watches for department stores and medical supply companies. One such was John, Bell and Croydon in London who supplied watches of this type to British military doctors and orderlies. The UK Ministry of Defence did not supply watches to military medical personnel at this time. You should note the outer second chapter outside the silver gray ring and the red sweep second hand. This was to help give a clear read out of a patient's pulse rate when in the field. Mascots in this condition are extremely rare, more so as they were one of the original watches to be fitted with ETA's first automatic movement, the Etarotor. The watch will be well wrapped (see my Feedback and bid with confidence) and shipped via Colissimo International Insured & Signed For. E & O E © AntMat's Auto Matters & Watches 2018
