BURMA - MANDALAY PERIOD - 19th century
Epoque Mandalay (1853-1948)
Parabaik manuscript, “Ca Lum” type. Identifiable thanks to the Burmese round or cursive writing that was customary practice at the time. The leaves are palm leaves that are scratched with a punch. The cover and the back are made of wood.
Parabaik are parts of the Palis manuscripts which constitute a vast body of religious and secular texts, the material realisation of which relies on techniques specific to Sri Lanka and the Buddhist countries of the Indochinese peninsula.
