Tapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal Studio Line, 35-part porcelain dinnerware, 'Diadem' decoration
Considerable part of a beautiful Rosenthal Tapio Wirkkala dinnerware with 'Diadem' decoration.
Wirkkala (born 1915, deceased 1985) was a Finnish designer and sculptor, a famous figure in the post-war design world.
He is known for his decorations for Rosenthal Studio Line, and also known for his designs for the Finnish brand Littala.
Tapio Wirkkala won many prizes and received many awards.
This design dates from the sixties and was made for Rosenthal Studio Line, Germany.
Rosenthal launched a new sub-brand in 1961, Rosenthal Studio Line.
Under this denominator, the well-known German porcelain and glass brand releases modern series of well-known designers.
Many of these dinnerware sets have become very sought-after classics.
The beautiful dinnerware set in blue and white consists of 35 parts, namely a teapot, a sugar bowl, 5 tea cups with saucer and an extra dish, 6 breakfast plates, 6 dinner plates, 6 deep plates, a sauce/gravy boat on a dish, a butter dish, 2 oval serving trays (e.g., for meat products or cheese), a round salad bowl and three large round bowls two with lids and two with ears.
The service is in very good condition. Just the teapot has some damage on the inner edge, where the lid touches the pot.
This doesn't show on the outside. Otherwise everything is pristine.
If you want to expand this service even further, E-bay is a good place to search.
