Rare extendable silver champagne whisk.
The whisk is attached to the handle with a beautifully detailed fan.
Handmade of a high grade silver (925/1000).
Beautifully marked and stamped for Sterling, which means 1st grade sterling silver.
The champagne whisk is a utensil originating from the 2nd half of the 19th century.
As ladies were prone to burp after drinking bubbly champagne, they would ‘whisk’ out the bubbles using a small champagne-whisk.
Burping was not acceptable in the genteel society in that time. This item was often seen during soirees and dinner-parties.
It was an item used without any embarrassment and it was kept in the ladies’ purse.
Length when pushed in: 10.6 cm.
Length extended: 15.5 cm.
The whole is in an exceptionally beautiful condition (minimal trace of use).
With a perfectly working sliding mechanism.
This 19th century silver champagne whisk is extremely rare and are only rarely offered for sale.
Shipped by registered mail.
