The Denomination of Origin Ribera del Duero has a climate of continental type, with Atlantic influence. Rainfall is scarce, with annual averages not exceeding 500 mm, concentrated especially in spring and autumn. The insolation, extensive and abundant, reaches annual average of 2,200 hours of sun, and the Douro River favors the mist and morning mist that make up an additional source of humidity.
The soils are clayey-calcareous, with brown zonales and an alluvial part.
The elaboration of these magnificent wines follows a rigorous process and with a strict control of the quality. The care and attention to detail is constant in each and every one of the phases. Without secrets, but with great wisdom.

Vega Sicilia is undoubtedly a unique wine and one of the great Spanish classics. His personality is derived not only from the maximum quality of the grape and the rigor of its manufacture, but above all from the love of detail that the Álvarez family has been able to transfer to its wines.
From a universal perspective, the peculiar characteristics of Vega Sicilia define it as a very Spanish wine and, in fact, it is one of the wines of the country that generates respect just by mentioning it. The Vega Sicilia enjoy a certain antique but stately accent, like the period furniture; wines of great elegance, finesse, complexity and with great capacity to stay in bottle for a long time.

Olfactory Phase: On the nose, an earthy smell, to mushrooms, and also violets and anise. It is a thick, opulent land of almost "Burgundian" flavor. Multitude of sweet fruits, which melt in the middle of a violet scent.

Gustatory Phase: Elements of a mineral Côte de Nuits, first line, with an extra anise! More concentrated than the one in 1962 and much more spicy, with an earthy finish.

Tasting notes: Tasting 2018; Younger nose. The anise was present, but with an imposing sweetness that dissolved on the palate. A superb bottle and, on this occasion, authentically Vegassilian!
